Canadian employment query (Silicon Valley)

Good day to you all !
I am new here and thought I would say hi and ask advice.
I am Canadian and have recently moved to Vancouver having just completed a 20 year stint in Singapore working in Interbank Treasury/Foreign Exchange/Money Markets.
Am quite "green" as to what the requirements are to work in the USA .
Really like the SF and SJ area.
