About working and living in Singapore

Hi people,

Currently I am starting to consider a career change or company change.

And I have come across some positions I could probably apply in Singapore. Which brings me to the following general questions.

1. In general how is it living in Singapore?
Is it a nice place to be (in an expat point of view)?

2. What are the average salaries per year?
2a. How high are the income and vat taxes.

3. Cost of living, rent, transport, etc.

I would appreciate any information from a locals point of view as well as expats living in Singapore, point of view.
