Dogs in Singapore

I'm thinking about bringing my small Silky Terrier to Singapore, from Sydney and there are a number of considerations I have to take into account before committing to the move.

One is that I have never seen a dog on public transport, but with the cost of cars here, I want to avoid buying one. How do Singaporeans get their dogs to the vet?... the groomers? Are dogs welcome in Taxi's? I'm hoping that with a little consideration - for example phoning the taxi company and explaining that I have a dog when I make the booking - it wont be too much of a drama.
