I have been in Singapore for a bit over a month now, and have stayed in Serviced Apartments across a few key localities, mainly to get my 'bearings' so that I can make a more informed choice regarding a condo.
I originally fine tuned my search to the River Valley Area; however my agent took me through a few condos in the East Coast - Parkway Parade area and this area looks pretty decent. My budget is <$5k per month for a 3 bedroom, and it appears you can get a lot more value for money (better quality condo/more modern) in the East Coast locality.
I don't need ready access to the MRT, and will be working from home when not meeting clients (and utilising our serviced office occasionally as required).
Are there any major issues or drawbacks for expats in the East Coast - Parkway Parade region?
