General Questions - Moving to Singapore

Hi all! I'll be moving to Singapore in September/October for two years for work. I've been looking around online for all of the information that I'll need, but don't have an exact date yet so it's hard to fully plan at the moment. However, I was just wondering if you had any surprises when you moved there? I plan on bringing just a suitcase full of stuff and moving into a furnished place. Basically, I'm wondering if, when you arrived, there was anything that made you go, "Wow, I didn't even think of that!"? Haha.

I know that this is fairly generic, but that's really all I'm looking for at the moment!
