Housing rental (Singapore)

I have doubts about what to take and leave in the US, we are going to be in Singapore for a minimum of 3 years and we are very much about having a homey place. I have from antiques to paintings, now I understand our moving package doesnt move those specific items. Any ideas? Has anybody shipped stuff on their own? What about, TV, Surround systems, electronics in general?

Also what about the rental properties allowing to install surround systems that might damage the walls, or intalling TV in a bracket? .

Some people advise to buy "everything" there but to me it seems excesive, we have 2 children and we want to recreate our current home as much as possible.
