Cost of Living (Southampton)

Hi everybody!

I am an Spanish Naval Architect, and the idea of moving to Southampton is hovering over my head. I have received some offers and the salary is rounding 31.000 GBP/year. I was wondering wether anyone of you could comment on the possibility of having a comfortable life with this salary. Also, the monthly cost of renting a good flat is of interest to me, as well as the average salary in the region.

Sorry for being so inquisitive but I need to get this points solved before accepting any offer. Many thanks in advance.
