Housing help in St. Gallen

My boyfriend and I will be moving to St. Gallen in 2 weeks as he has a new job there. We are desperately searching for apartments from afar which hasn't worked so well yet. Does anyone have any advice on how to rent before arriving? Or does anyone know anyone who is renting their apartment or a room in their apartment?
