what's up in Strasbourg?

I'm thinking about doing an internship in Strasbourg, but I've only been to this city once, for 3 days. It was raining all the time and the city seemed quite small and a bit sad.

What is your impression? Is it a nice city for young people? How are the rents? Can you feel something of the "European spirit" because of the Parliament etc.? And what can you do in your free time?
