Native speakers of Swahili required.

Appen Butler Hill is looking for native speakers of Swahili for transcription work. The work will involve listening to audio recordings of Swahili speech and typing down in Swahili what is said or fixing the given Swahili text to match the audio.

Requirements:

- must be able to understand, read and write Swahili

- must be able to read and understand English well

- must have good PC and typing skills

- is able to use a Swahili keyboard layout

Desirable skills:

- good listening skills

- attention to detail

- Has ability to follow instructions in English

- Is available Protected content per week at our office in Chatswood, Sydney

Start date:

Second week of November

Payment:

$22.07 p/h inclusive superannuation.

Summary of tasks:

The main task involves listening to audio recordings in Zulu speech and typing out what is said or fixing the given Zulu text to match the audio.

Another task involves listening to recordings to determine if they are suitable to be used, for example if the dialect is correct, or if there is too much background noise

Essential skills:

- Must be a native speaker of Zulu from South Africa

- Must be able to identify different dialects from South Africa

- Must have typing experience in Zulu

- Good spelling and knowledge of grammar in Zulu

- Language skills must be current i.e. the language is still spoken and written

Desirable skills:

- Attention to detail

- Previous language/linguistic training highly preferred

- Be available to work at least 3 days a week at our office in Chatswood, Sydney

Project start date:

as soon as possible

Payment:

$22.07 p/h inclusive superannuation.
