Marked by exceptional dance, theatre, music, film, and with a lovely green hue that you’ll be seeing splashed across the city as January draws near, the program introduces a wide range of creative talents making their Sydney debuts, as well as welcoming back some old Festival friends.

Following the enormous success of its inaugural year, Festival First Night returns with an epic, all-embracing free celebration of the Festival and our city to mark the opening of the Protected content on 10 January. With the streets again cleared of cars, the Festival explodes onto open-air stages across the CBD. Major international artists from all over the world kick off three weeks of inspiration, jubilation and perspiration, giving everyone an opportunity to catch some of the biggest names in the Festival for free.
Cycle to Festival First Night and park your bike for free at the secure Valet Bicycle Parking Station provided by the City of Sydney in Hyde Park North. Make the most of summer in Sydney and get on your bike and enjoy our beautiful city by riding to events.
