1999 Citizen Hotline: one number you need to know (Taipei)

This is a free 24/7 hotline (except from public phones or pre-paid mobile phones) for residents and foreigners in Taipei. There is always at least one English-speaking person on duty.

They answer questions about everything in Taipei: resident certificate, visa, labor-management dispute, relocation, public transportation routes, communicating with taxi drivers, municipal services, key tourist sites, etc.

There is even a sign-language option to communicate via webcam!
