Tourist Visas (Taipei)

Hi all. I am an expat currently living and working in St. Petersburg, Russia, though I am planning a visit to Taiwan soon. I have friends living in Chaiyi and I'm planning on staying with them for 5 or 6 weeks.

I wanted to inquire about the tourist visa process if anyone is familiar with it. As an American citizen I know that I can enter the coutry visa-free for 30 days, however I know already that I will stay longer. Living in Russia now I'm trying to figure out the details regarding obtaining a 2 month tourist visa in Moscow.

If anyone is familiar with immigration I would be grateful for any help. I'm trying to determine if there is some way I can get a 2 month visa in Taiwan. In that the only Taiwanese consulate in Russia is in Moscow it will make my life more difficult if I need to travel there for visa processing first.
