Level of cultural/city activity: Tenerife/Canaries
Hi everybody,
I'm an american/hungarian designer/illustrator who has lived in Barcelona for the last 6 years and who is going to live in Berlin next year. I'm trying to figure out where to spend the winter to avoid the cold in Berlin, and I'm considering Tenerife or someplace on the Canary Islands as a possibility.
I'm looking for a place:(requirements)
- that is fairly inexpensive where i can find a decent room in an interesting, lively neighborhood at a reasonable price
- with interesting activities, where i can meet people or people are open -- since i would be coming alone and i don't know anybody there
- where wifi cafes are easily accessible where i can work from
- where one can go out at night without fear of bodily harm
(desirable)
- where there are designers or writers or creative people
- where there are people starting up interesting projects
- where i can find germans for language instruction and exchange.
Could anyone give me any thoughts on this? I suppose that if the majority of people in Tenerife are retired expats looking primarily to relax and there's not a lot of city or cultural activities, maybe it's not the ideal place for a couple of months. Any comments would be GREATLY appreciated.

Soy una mujer americana/húngara, diseñadora/ilustradora que ha vivido los últimos 6 anos en Barcelona, y voy a ir a vivir en Berlin el ano próximo. Estoy preguntándome donde puedo ir hasta febrero/marzo para escapar el frió, y Tenerife figura entre las posibilidades.
Alguien podría dar mi algunos consejos?

-una ciudad no muy cara donde encontrar una habitación buena en un barrio interesante de precio razonable no sea imposible
-que tenga actividades interesantes, donde se puede conocer a la gente o la gente es abierta (como que vengo sola y no voy a conocer a nadie allí)
-cafes wifis en barrios interesantes donde se puede trabajar
-donde una persona puede moverse en la ciudad por la noche sin miedo de que se atracan.

donde hay diseñadores/artistas/gente interesante para conocer
donde hay gente montando proyectos interesantes,
buen nivel de cultural,
donde se encuentra gente aleman para intercambios.
alguien podría opinar sobre Tenerife, si la ciudad ofrece estas posibilidades? Supongo que mi preocupacion es si la majoria de gente esta jubilada, en plan de retiro, tal vez no es el lugar ideal para mi para unos meses...que pensais?
