Hi fellow members,
This post is for all you savvy shoppers, so look at what's in store for you (literally!).
As of August 1st.,Toronto Premium Outlets is expected to open at Halton Hills, located about an hour away from downtown. A grand opening celebration is being planned from August 1st - August 4th, for the Simcoe Day long weekend, so if your closet needs an overhaul, be sure to drop by.
If you are new to the outlet shopping scene, just consider these malls as a great opportunity to shop, at your favorite brand name stores, with a 20% to 65% retail store price tag discount.
If you are a real bargain hunter, be sure to access Protected content and join their VIP Shopper's Club, which gives you access to further mall store discounts you can print out. Once you log into your account, you can also print a free "VIP coupon book" voucher, redeemable at guest services, that normally has the best discounts for the shops at these outlet malls.
But be cautious! Although outlet stores generally provide such steep discounts, based of overstocks from their regular retail stores, out-of-season merchandise or clothing with imperfections that are not fit to be sold in regular retail stores, many reports say otherwise. They claim that some brand name stores have, at some point, made lower quality garments to be sold specifically at their outlet mall locations. These items are generally made with lower quality materials and poor craftsmanship, while still carrying the same brand name's label, so be extra careful.
Outlet shopping in Canada is by far, less expensive than buying at full price in a retail store downtown, but Canadian outlet prices being as competitive as those found in outlets in the U.S., remains to be seen.
If you have your doubts about shopping at Canadian outlets, consider visiting Niagara Falls Fashion Outlets, located in the Buffalo-Niagara area, just across the border and decide for yourself!
If you still want to go local, there are several other outlet centers in Ontario to choose from.
Please see below for the website links of most outlets (Canadian and American) near Toronto, so you can consider what your options are. The Outlet Mall names (listed alphabetically) and their links are as follows:
