Point in the right direction (Toronto)

Hello all!

I am considering living in Canada.I was wanting a point in the right direction, please. Should I visit Canada a bunch or should I live on the boarder and drive in? I also work in film and was wondering if working in film in Canada similar to the US, with how to find work, does the point system work with film? In fact what is the point system I keep hearing about? And any helpful guides with living in Toronto on a cheap, socializing tips, etc. Any help would be much appreciated.
