PRODUCTION ENGINEERING MANAGER - Markham Area (Toronto)

Our Client is seeking a Production Engineering Manager immediately; the position requires management of all production engineering activities, ensuring adequate staffing and equipment resources to support existing and future production demands. The engineering group defines implements, maintains and supports all processes and equipment required for the production and manufacture of electronic circuit board assemblies and products. The processes include but not limited to the follow:
 SMT, Wave, Selective, and Hand Soldering
 Wire and Cable assembly
 Manual and automated mechanical assembly
 Conformal coating, Bonding, and other special processes
 Box build

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Monitor and support existing processes, ensuring they are properly documented and understand by the users.
 Monitor and investigate process yields and implement process improvements (documentation, training etc.) and equipment improvements.
 Monitor and investigate equipment utilization and provide reports and recommendations for improvement to production and managements.
 Design and implement new processes for new customer requirements
 Develop and co-ordinate delivery of custom tooling required supporting production processes, including stencils, pallets, jigs and fixtures.
 Perform equipment repair, maintenance and co-ordinate third party equipment repair and maintenance.
 Provide technical leadership to the other process engineers, technologists and technicians in the group
 Manage all activities for the group.

COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills & Knowledge
 Working knowledge of SMT assembly (paste painting, oven profiling etc.) and through hole assembly (wave profiling, Hand Soldering etc.) processes and equipment, including the ability to assess equipment malfunctions and initiate and manage appropriate repair activities.
 Good understanding of solder metallurgy
 Working knowledge of various post sold assembly processes (mechanical assembly, cable assembly, box building conformal coating, gluing, etc.)
 Excellent interpersonal skills including oral and written communication
Education & Experience
 Sc (Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metallurgy ) or equivalent skills and experience
Protected content experience in an electronics circuit board and product assembly environment.
 Experience in the operation and repair of various production equipment, particularly Panasonic SMT equipment.
 Experience in a supervisory or managerial position

Compensation $65k - $75k yearly
