Some Tips for Job Search in Canada (Toronto)

Folks who are looking for a job....there are few tricks through which you can make yourself visible and stand out of the crowd to get tapped by recruiters in your areas...listen carefully and do the following ticks...

1) Have a most recent updated LinkedIn account

2) be very active in LinkedIn group discussions with knowledgeable discussion in your field...

3) every week update your status in LinkedIn for a challenging role

4) Have most updated profiles on Indeed, Workpolis and Monster

5) Every week Sunday... log on to Workopolis, Monster and Indeed and download you posted Resume and upload the same resume Protected content

This way your profile will show at the top of the search when recruiters search as most current and active

6) list all the possible skill key words you can and want your profile to show up when a search is preformed...but do not list it in the resume itself...put it in the footer of the last page with smallest fonts and white font color...so the human eye will not be able to see but the system eye will be able to see...doing this in the footer is the reason..that when a DB search is going on the system automatically starts from the bottom of the last page...so the footer of the lat page is the first thing it sees....though if the skill is not in your profile your resume will show up at top 10... now that job matches or not you will still receive a call from the recruiter...

also when you apply for a job...do follow up with a friendly note...just don't sit there waiting....

when come out of the interview do send a thank you mail to all of the interviewers... and if you don't know the ids then send it to your recruiters to forward

Concept: If you want to fulfill your hunger you have to jump in the river to catch a fish and not stand at the banks with hands out hoping the fish will jump in your hands to fill your hunger..if you don't do that there will be other who are already jumped in to catch your fish....

7) Spread the word in your professional community and friends for if they come across any position fitting your profile in their company they should immediately get in touch with you.... The Canadian Market is a 90% hidden market...and works on word of mouth

now word of advice

slow down on your activities of social network as folks sitting to make decision to give you a job and folks looking for candidates like you...look for your online activities...of Facebook/Orkut and others... they want to know you better and see what and how much time you spend online...also they want to make sure what kind of sharing you do..and if you could be a threat to HR policies....

when you are looking for a job be more inclined to be active on professional network then social network....once you get a job then do what ever you want...

oh I missed a point...instead of adding folks and friends from India please add the folks and friends form your local dwelling...this too makes and impression on how much you are committed to your work here in Canada..

Never give up hope! and get disheartened! Remember: "A dead fish can float downstream, but it takes a live one to swim upstream. W. C. Fields" There is always a sunny day after the dark night....
