Living/Working advice (Toulouse)

Hi all

My partner & I will be moving to France in about 4 years. I'm planning on taking a tesol course & hopefully teach English. My partner speaks French & is a painter. We would like to buy a house near Bergerac (where his family live) and perhaps work in Bordeaux.
I'd love any advice! Is there a demand for painters in France. Is it hard to get a job teaching English? What are wages like? What should we consider when buying a house? Any suggestions of villages with nice affordable housing?
