Help needed regarding working visa and job search (Vancouver)

Hi there,
I just came to Vancouver in May on a travel visa (valid until November) and decided that I would try everything to get a working visa and a job as skilled worker until my visa expires so that I can stay here. If necessary at all, I would only go back to Germany for the working visa application process.
I am grateful for any kind of helping hints as regards to whom to contact, how to get help with this ever changing visa application process. And of course I would appreciate every help as regards to finding a job preferably in CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). I am a project manager/consultant.
I have already contacted "CareerJoy", a career counseling agency and I will be introduced to an immigration lawyer soon.
Have you heard or worked with "immigration officers" before? I think they are working at human resources agencies? I am not sure about that, though.

PS: By the way, no chance to get a work and travel visa. I am too old for that.
