Work in research/administration (Vancouver)

Good evening everyone.

I'd love to seek some advice, I'd love to move to Vancouver and work for a period of time (i.e. a year). I have a background in research, having worked for an independent research consultancy in Glasgow, UK and for the University of Glasgow as a research assistant for a number of years. I am now working for an academic journal as an Editorial Administrator. I was wondering whether anyone knows whether there would be any need for the skills I have in Vancouver and what the job market is currently like?

Is it easy to find work, if you have this skill set, motivation and drive?! Any advice greatly appreciated. Also would you say it's best to find work prior to arriving? Thanks...
