Learning Italian in Mestre or Venice

Hi, as stated in a previous thread, I'm in Venice until the end of March and I want to improve my (rather limited) Italian while I'm here. I can't afford the big language schools so was wondering if Venice commune offered classes, or if anyone can recommend a private teacher.
