The Goose Festival in Mirano (Venice)

Something in the area worth seeing.

Every year Mirano holds a human-scale Gioco dell'Oca (Snakes and Ladders) game, excepting that the snakes in Italy are in fact geese. Six teams representing the town's neighbourhoods fight it out over multiple obstacles, including climbing up ladders and jumping over hapless birds.

Stars of the festival are of course the geese, exhibited in every corner, alive, drawn or… deliciously cooked! Typical food and wine stands everywhere, your palate won't be disappointed.
The whole town dresses for the occasion – literally! in Protected content style.

Please check the full programme here: Protected content .

From Venice there's a bus to Mirano leaving every 20 minutes.

Enjoy!
