Although, I have lived in Vienna for longer than I can believe, I must admit that I have never had the experience of watching the “Haus am Ring” transform itself into a glittering Ballroom, at least not live. No, I have yet to mingle on the red carpet with the glamorous crowd, which parades into the Vienna State Opera every Thursday before Matdi Gras. It's is a magical night, a grand gala dedicated to the Arts. The guests are as varied as the stories in the world of Opera. They range from elegantly sophisticated to ostentatiously flamboyant.
