getting a mortgage / bank loan in PL (Warsaw)

Greetings, I'm expecting to move to Warsaw soon and buying an apartment. Does anyone know the best way to get mortgage quotes or how to get pre-approved for a loan (like we do in the USA) ?

I already was at Millenium bank and they said because I "live outside of Poland" I would "have to put down 40% of the purchase price." I didn't have time to talk to other banks but that sounds a bit extreme.

Any suggestions for credit shopping in PL would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
