Help! Canadian/EU citizen moving to Mainz in Oct. (Wiesbaden-Mainz)

Hallo!

I am an opera singer and voice teacher and I will be moving to Mainz in October with my partner who will be teaching at the Mainz Uni as a PhD student.

I'm a Canadian and Italian citizen and would love it if anyone had any info regarding the best German language classes and info regarding health insurance (ie: should I get travellers insurance or German Insurance? Not quite sure which since I will only be there 5 months and plan to visit other countries while there).

Any other info would be super appreciated, especially about jobs. I will only be there for 5 months, but I'd still like some part time employment if possible.
