Anyone been to Kastamonu in Turkey ?

I am planning to go to Kastamonu for a week sometime between June-August since I have a time share resort there - Ilgaz mountain resort.

Has anyone been to this place or this resort ? Is it worth spending a week there ? I am not interested just in hiking and biking all the time but I also want to visit historical sites and learn more about Turkey. Is this an ideal place for that ?

Any tips and suggestions are welcome.
