I know to so many people this space provides much valued connection but for me it was an attempt to get some help for my dad in a time of need - I was caught out on an annual membership and really feel that the response I got from support was so blunt and uncaring. Very upset by this. How do others feel? Is anyone aware of any resolution page I might contact - thanks.

Yes I am fully aware that you have terms and conditions displayed I fully admitted to making an error – I was hoping that you may have been reasonable rather than punitive.

The only reason that I joined the Lisbon community was because my elderly father had his flight redirected to Lisbon which was the nearest airport for an medical emergency landing where he then spent ten days alone in hospital. I was desperate to try and reach out for help for him.

I have had quite a lot on my plate since I flew over to Lisbon to bring him home and the last thing that I thought of was to give attention to was disconnecting an online membership. My bad.


I lost my job three weeks ago after five years with same company and am now waiting now for a payment from the government to survive. €70 euro is an enormous amount to take out of my budget.

Perhaps you do not have permission to refund me but I would ask that you could pass my email up the line to someone who can make a more compassionate call on it.

I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy that your Albatross Membership was automatically extended after your free trial month. We operate on an automatic extension system as a convenience for our active members so that they don’t miss out on any events or other premium features. As you did not downgrade your account during the first 30 days, you were charged for the subscription period that you had chosen.

The information that your Albatross Membership would be automatically extended after your free trial ended was clearly displayed on the check-out page as well as on your Membership page. It stated that:
•Your free trial will last for 30 days
•You will only be charged after that time
•You can cancel anytime during the trial
Please note that we will therefore not be able to issue you with a refund of your Albatross Membership fees.

I can confirm that your account has been successfully downgraded. At the end of your current billing cycle, you will revert to Basic Membership and your account will not be charged again.
