baggage storage in Shanghai - train station?

I am flying into Shanghai 3 weeks before my new job starts about 4 hours away. Before I start work I want to travel on to Beijing for Protected content . I read in an article that Shanghai train station had luggage storage by the hour. Does anyone know if they store by the day/week?

I would be interested in knowing if anyone has done this anywhere and has any tips. I usually leave mine in a hotel that I am planning on returning to and they have been safely held intact even when unlocked. In this case, I am wondering if that will be the case or not It would be a long year without my clothes and other comfort items I am taking with me.... my whole life in 2 suitcases.

I am planning on getting off the plane and going directly to the train station. But would love to leave my large suitcases for the move at the station and only take a small carry on for this side trip. I could try to make arrangements for a storage place near my new job, but it would be a day's travel to do this (out and back).
