Balti, Moldova anyone?!

Hi! I might have an opportunity to teach ESL at a university in Balti, Moldova for 10 months. It's been very difficult to find information about Balti, especially what I might expect in terms of day-to-day life. I'd greatly appreciate any information, impressions, suggested connections or resources you might have of/for Balti. I know there's a Peace Corps and NGO presence there, so I might have some expat connections in that way. The main thing I'm trying to figure out is if it's a relatively friendly place.
