Becoming a Portuguese citizen & need help!

I am a US citizen, born an raised here in California. My father is Portuguese and moved here when he was 6, I only recently discovered I qualify for dual citizenship in August Protected content . The Consulate here in San Francisco has been very helpful, however the one issue I'm having is registering my parents divorce in Portugal. Anyone have a similar situation? I had to register my parents marriage first but was told to speak with a lawyer there to register it, is this necessary (or is it a formality, like I could send my cousin in with the forms and it is okay)? I don't know whom else to ask and is the only part the Consulate said they cannot do for me. Do you know an English speaking lawyer in Portugal?

Only part left, have my parents birth certificates, mine, and my valid passport...
