Canadian Pension in Thailand (Chiang Mai)?

I am seriously considering retiring to Chiang Mai when I turn Protected content from now. My late wife's family was from that area and she always said she wanted us to visit there when I retired) and was wondering if any Canadians here can share some first hand knowledge of what to expect in regards to finances from a CPP (Canadian Pension Plan) + OAS (Old Age Security) income?

Barring major changes, in two years I will be retiring with full CPP and OAS benefits. Do any expat retired Canadian living in Thailand have first hand experience with this and would be able to confirm or provide realistic feedback as to my estimates?

( All estimates are in Canadian Dollars)

CPP = $1154
OAS = $607
----------- Protected content
Sub Total: $1902

Minus $ Protected content withholding tax)

Total = $1617/mth ($ Protected content or $ Protected content ($ Protected content
Protected content

This will be direct deposit to a Thai bank account by the Canadian government through the tax treaties, so that should be a relatively accurate number.

I also have personal retirement savings (RRSPs,) but not sure what the best way to handle them would be .... I did some calculations on the Canada revenue site using their calculator, and with a target of $ Protected content income (~ Protected content and I can hit that comfortably, but I don't think it takes into account taxes at all.

Does anyone know who does the 'taxing' on RRSPs? Canada or Thailand, or both? and how much?

Also, does anyone know of something I'm missing from my CCP & OAS calculations?

Note: I also have a separate TFSA that I will use to cover the Protected content bank account required by Thailand for a 'retirement visa'.

P.S. Will be taking a 3 week trip to Chiang Mai this December to check out the place to see if I would be comfortable retiring there .. I suspect I would, as I've spent some time in Bangkok with my wife and enjoyed the lifestyle (pretty simple, not into the club/girly bar scene ... maybe some beer bars to chat up the locals like I would at home ... more looking to have Chiang Mai as a home base and do some traveling around South East Asia for some simple sightseeing a few times a year.)

Thanks in advance. Hope to meet some of you in a couple of years (if not in December when I come over)
