Do you recommend Manila or Kuala Lumpur?

Hello, today I realised that summer is near and I want to know your opinion on two options of destinations I have in mind.for a 2 to 3 weeks backpacking trip traveling from Barcelona to one of these two airports: Manila or Kuala Lumpur. What are your recommendations? My main interests this year: food and markets, monuments and beaches... Thanks for your opinions!
