Domestic Violence - not to be spoken about?

I saw a thread here - Happy women's day.
But it isn't happy for everyone.

Did you know that domestic violence is under reported, but a UK goverment study estimated that it:
- accounts for 16% of all violent crime
- will affect 1 in 4 women in their lifetime
- 77% of victims of domestic violence are women
- has more repeat victims than any other crime (on average there will have been 35 assaults before a victim calls the police)
- on average, two women are killed every week by a current or former male partner
- one incident of domestic violence is reported to the police every minute

So why do I post this today of all days?
Because today is international women’s day.

On 19 September Protected content Zealand became the first self-governing nation in the world to give women the right to vote.
in year Protected content . 15,000 women marched through New York City demanding shorter hours, better pay and voting rights.
In year Protected content , my country, Finland gave women full government rights. In the election year of Protected content every political party submitted female candidates. 19 women were selected and these women became the worlds first congresswomen.

How are these two connected?
There is one more thing women should claim. Their right to walk out when they are abused in a relationship ... to refuse to be disrespected and repeatedly beaten up.

We do have a voice.
And a choice.
The most important vote of our life .. because some are paying with their life for not using it.
