Empower Disadvantaged Rural Women

Discrimination against women is social problems allover the world. It manifests even at the time a baby is born. With regard to gender discrimination, some exceptions aside, men have imposed a subordinate status on women in societies both Eastern and Western. The conditions of Pakistani women are almost the same as of their counterparts in the world. In rural Sindh, women are discriminated against in almost all walks of life. Women are suppressed both religiously and socially. Most of the time women have no choice except to follow the worst social traditions in the honor of their family. In Pakistani society generally women cannot do anything independently. Most of the time they are not given opportunity to get education, they do not enjoy their childhood because of family economic conditions.
The women in rural areas of Qambar District of Sindh Province of Pakistan also face similar issues. Majority of the women live in rural areas and suffer from various kinds of violence at household, communal and social levels. Women in Qambar suffer from poverty of opportunities throughout their lives. Reports published by the National Commission for Human Development and Unesco indicate that Sindh has an overall literacy rate of 59 per cent for population over 10 years in age. There is a wider gap between rural Protected content cent) and urban Protected content cent) literacy rates. Within the rural population of Sindh, the female literacy rate is just 22 per cent. There are a total of 45,044 primary schools in Sindh of which girls’ primary schools number 7,283. Most schools are either co-education or are specifically for boys. Apart from this, most teachers employed in primary schools are male. About 40 per cent of the population in Sindh has never attended school and 55 per cent of this population resides in the rural areas.

Looking to the worst condition of Rural Women, we have planned to start a Rural Women Empowerment and Community Centre for the Poor Women and girls; in most backward District Qambar Shahdadkot of Sindh Province of Pakistan, where they will get training, Awareness and Motivation . The girls who will be provided trainings at our Center will become role models for their families and relatives, not only role model even an impressive motivation for others. The training will bring a positive and meaningful change in their status of life. We believe that if we would be able to provide them skill trainings and Awareness. they will become self-reliant and they will feel pride in making their own business. It is suggested that skill trainings will be given in many areas to help unskilled women girls for better future. These training are will be imparted during the project life. The Center will provide skill training in Computer, Sewing and Knitting, Beautification and Handicraft Works. In the Community Center a Workshop will be conducted every month on Women and Child Health and Human Rights
