Expat contract ends, what now?

Hi y'all!
I moved to Cleveland (from Germany) 4 years ago and my expat contract will end beginning next year. I'm thinking about staying here in the US and would have to face a lot of changes and questions. Does anyone already have experience with it and would like to share his/her Information with me? I'd be glad for Input, experiences, tips and thoughts!
