Expat Homelessness

I have been working abroad for about three years now. When I came home for the recent holiday season I felt strange. The place that I returned to didn't really feel like "home" anymore. It certainly felt familar but there was not that sense of belonging that I was used to. When the holidays were over and I came back, I didn't get that feeling here either.

Does everyone feel this way?
How long does it take to feel like this?
If you stay for long enough in a strange country, does it feel like home?
If you return home, does that feeling come back?
