Expatriates' Work-related Experiences

Hello everyone,

I am currently writing my dissertation about factors that facilitate expatriates adjustment and work performance abroad and I would really like to hear from you about your experiences. What do you think is important when going abroad for work? Language knowledge, cultural skills and knowledge? I personally found language knowledge to be most important for my own adjustment and performance but would like to know if you have different experiences or observations?
