Expropriation of farmers in South Africa

Last Tuesday, many parties of the South African parliament supported an application for the expropriation of South African farmers.

The application has been justified with the fact, that even nowadays, 24 years after the end of the Apartheid, 73% of the agricultural areas in South Africa are in the hand of ethnic white people, the ancestors of the former Dutch colonialists.

In South Africas neighbour country Simbabwe, a similar expropriation happened some time ago, with the result, that a lot of this farmland ended up unused, after it was taken away from it’s former owners.

Is such kind of expropriation the right way to deal with the still existing unequality in South Africa? Or is it just pure revenge? What do you think?
