Gender wage gap? Is it gone?

Mary Barra, the first female CEO of General Motors, will earn approximately half what her male predecessor made. In business and legal we see that men make 31% more than women. It is generally suggested that the wage gap is due to a variety of causes, such as differences in the types of positions, areas and industries. For instance, male artists make 29% more per year than female artists in the game industry. Still women who work part time actually earn more than men who work part time. Some recourses also state that the gender gap has disappeared for tech workers (salary survey from IT careers site Dice).

What are some reasons that women get paid less than men for the same work? Do you notice these tendencies in your company? On the contrary, do you share an idea that there is no gender gap in salaries, especially in tech positions?
