Getting paid in China

Hi All,
I am new here. I am interviewing for a US owned company that want me to work in China for several years. However, they mentioned they pay in Chinese money. When I worked in China for US owned companies, I was always paid to my bank account in the states.

Last I lived in China, it was very difficult to convert Chinese Currency to US Currency. Does this still hold true ?

Is it possible to convert large amounts of Chinese currency into US dollars ? Legally of course, through a bank other legal institution.
