grand parentage

Hi, my old grandfather long deceased left England in the Protected content for a life in Canada for a while he was a policeman in Blackburn in England but when he went to Canada he joined the Royal Canadian mounties would this have given him automatic naturalisation and also is it possible for me to claim citizenship through grandparentage. Anyone with any knowledge on this subject I would really like to hear there advice. Thanks, Davy Bryden.
