I am an expat because...

I have followed the recent discussions in this forum and I am really impressed by the quality of interesting people and intelligent debates taking place here.

All of us being expats and global minds, obviously is what unites us here as a community, therefore I would be very much interested to share our personal reasons for this. I think it would be great to get to know the personal stories from each other, i.e. why everyone of us actually lives the life as an expat abroad far away from home. I guess many different reasons come into play: Job, legal, personal relationship, personality, etc.
