A top apparel import company located in Dubai, UAE currently has a great opportunity for an import manager and import coordinator to start working in our brand new Dubai office. We are a leading retail supplier and have strong relationships with top apparel companies in Europe, USA, and Australia, etc. We have several offices located around the world. The Dubai office houses our logistics and accounting departments.
Responsible for ensuring that all ocean and air freight is delivered in a timely and cost effective manner, foreseeing possible delays, such as customs exams, port/rail congestion, & connection delays
Communicate with manufacturers/suppliers, freight forwarders and third party logistics providers to coordinate the movement of freight from domestic origin pointe to overseas destination points.
Follow up with our freight forwarders, steam ship lines, customs brokers, warehouses and truckers
Update customers on delays, in transit status and delivery to warehouse, manage problems, including delivery extensions.
Provide shipping documentation and relevant freight details to customers for in transit
Update shipping reports, payment reports, delivery schedules in excel
Bill customers and strong follow up with their banks and accounting depts. for payment status
Negotiate trucking, warehousing and storage rates
Ensures compliance with international and U.S. laws related to import/export activity
Evaluates trade-offs between transportation costs, inventory costs, and service levels
Works with packaging engineers to effectively protect import/export goods
Negotiate rates with inland carriers, ocean carriers, freight forwarders, consolidators, and third party logistics providers to obtain the lowest rates with corresponding high quality of service.
Prepare the necessary export documents and related documents vital for exportation, such as commercial invoice, packing list, inland/straight bill of lading, banking documents, shipping instructions and other documents
Familiar with the C-TPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism)
Handle paperwork for insurance claims for damage or lost cargo
Perform International freight cost analysis and develop metrics to measure the activity.
Analyze and review all freight bills to ensure accuracy and issue checks for payments
Prepare necessary documents for export shipments to South America, Asia and Europe, such as ocean bill ladings, GCC, Letter of Credit documents, and other documents.
Prepare documents to comply with the letter of credit; present banking documents to bank.
Keep abreast with countries rules and regulations
Analyze the most efficient way to move cargo from point to point
Prepare ocean and air booking. Export license application, insurance certificate and other documents. Competencies for success (skills)
• Spoken & written English essential (Plus if knowledge of French or Spanish)
• Confidence, well presented & articulate
• Highly organized & able to manage your own workload
• Knowledge of import terminology and documentation, Letter of Credit
• B.S in relevant field of study, International Business
• Strong Excel and spreadsheet abilities
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong analytical skills
• Navision experience a plus
