Indonesian Executions

It's a solemn day.

In this day and age is it right that Governments which represent the whole of society and has the duty of protecting the individuals of that society can carry out their duty by committing (legalized) murder themselves?

The taking of lives is in this way is not necessary to protect societies, as those who need to be off the streets can be locked up.

How does killing people to show that killing people is wrong make any sense?

I you believe that murder is wrong - then it is wrong for everybody.

Including Governments.
