Involvement in Politics

Every day, if not many times a day, I hear people complaining about the state of this or that. They talk about the ""#### government" as if it was nothing to do with them, like the world is run by race of lizard people rather than other human beings elected by other human beings. If you ask them what they would rather do if they were in charge, they don't have an answer and they quite often don't vote.

To me, it seems a bit rich to delegate all responsibility to others and then complain when they choose something you don't like.

It seems that people in the past cared about these things. History is full of people who fought for such freedoms or against certain decisions. Why don't people care about politics any more?
