Is Women Empowerment still necessary?

Greetings to everyone near and far,

After all the years of Employment Equity and the focus on women-owned companies, women in leadership positions, do women still believe that
"women empowerment" as an agenda is valid?

Are women now not much higher up in key organisations, both private and public sectors,
and quite capable of speaking for themselves?
Has the mandate not been achieved?

With so many women CEOs, Directors, Presidents, Chairman, do we still need targets or gender diversity programmes or do women just shine without any help?

Interested in all the varying views.
No wrong or right, just your thoughts particularly based on experiences and direct observations.

For all the men especially:
if your organization was to set a target to have 50% of all positions occupied by women, would you feel that this is discrimination?
