Long term stay in Cuba.....advice

Protected content am a Canadian who is looking for a spot for a three month winter getaway from December Protected content march Protected content . I have been to South East Asia(Thailand, Vietnam, the P.I.), numerous times and am looking for somewhere different to spend a cold Canadian winter. A friend suggested Cuba, but I have no one in my close circle who has been there.
Protected content it possible to rent a bungalow or room for a reasonable rate for a three month stay, near, but not right on a beach? If prices are not too high I would typically eat two meals (lunch and dinner) a day out. Any first hand recommendations for lodgings and locations that you have had good experiences with, would be most welcome. A place with a Canadian expat community would be nice, but not essential. Also, what kind of weather could I expect from December to March in Cuba?
Protected content give some background, I am a 60 year old single man, well past my "party-hardy" days, so a quiet area away from loud late night bars is important. Typically on vacation, I read, exercise, swim(if there are no riptides or undertows) and have a daily beer, but no bar crawling or heavy drinking.
