Making love, not babies

Sexual behavior is a personal decision, but a population's sexual mores have decidedly political and economic effects. We who live in Italy experience this first-hand, since Italians have been making fewer babies than the rest of the industrialized world for some time, and the repercussions -- on pension benefits, immigration policy, education, and more -- are constantly in the headlines.
