Martinique

I am originally from NYC, and have been living in Paris for 7 years. A month ago I moved to Martinique. Rented a small villa in Les Trois-ilets up the hill, 5 minutes walk to the beach. It's a lovely island and the town where I am residing is charming, but I find the energy is just not there, from bars to restaurants and the streets. Perhaps I have not looked at the right place, but if anyone know anything about Martinique, please inform me.
